Getting Started with Multilingual Learners: Online Module
Welcome to Getting Started with ELLs!
We are so excited to be on your journey of professional learning and growing with you! This page provides you some basic information regarding FLEX so you have a wonderful experience with our professional learning modules.
Learning Management System
We utilize FLEX as our LMS (Learning Management System). All online module activities and resources are accessed and submitted using FLEX. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns as you move through the modules.

Module Set-Up
This module contains an interactive presentation. Resources that correlate directly to the presentation will be included in the topic folders. You will also find additional activities, readings, and videos to extend and amplify your curiosity. Finally, you will see a culminating activity to connect your practice to the information included in this module.
Completion of Module
This module has been set up to fit your learning needs. Therefore there are various ways to achieve a certificate of completion.
- Entire Module: Watch the webinar, complete the booklet, complete each activity within each of the 5 modules, AND the final assignment.
- Webinar: Watch the webinar, complete the booklet, and complete the final assignment. Your certificate of completion will reflect 2 hours of PD.
- Tailored PD: Watch the webinar, complete the booklet, and complete the final assignment. Then, for each additional topic, you complete, you will receive an additional hour of PD on your certification of completion. For example: complete the webinar, booklet, final assignment AND 1 topic to earn a total of 3 hours of PD.
About Instructor
Tere Masiarchin
Tere Masiarchin provides high quality and relevant professional development, needs assessment, and program support to school districts and teachers with culturally and linguistically diverse students. Tere comes to CESA 2 from CESA 6 where she was the Director of the Language and Culture Center. Tere had previously spent 11 years in the Clintonville School District as the EL/Bilingual/Title III/21st CCLC Director and has been an adjunct professor at the UW-Green Bay. Tere is a national SIOP trainer and Thinking Maps Trainer.
